Elizabeth R. Culligan Elected A&P Director
MONTVALE, NJ - March 19, 2002 -- The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (A&P) (NYSE:GAP) announced today that Elizabeth R. Culligan, President & Chief Operating Officer, has been elected to the Company's Board of Directors.
Ms. Culligan joined A&P as Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer in January 2001, and was appointed President & COO in February of this year. She came to A&P from Nabisco Holdings Corp., where she was President of Nabisco International.
Christian Haub, Chairman of the Board & Chief Executive Officer, said, "Beth has been instrumental in our Company's resurgence in the past year. I am pleased that the Board has recognized her leadership and experience by electing her a Director. I look forward to working with Beth in our management roles, and as members of the Board."
