  • Providing incentives to customers who use their own bags such as 2 cents off their shopping order for use of an Elizabeth Haub tote or re-sued paper bag; 1 cent off each re-used plastic bag;
  • Encouraging customers to accept “PAID” stickers on bulky items, such as laundry detergent or bagged potatoes, in lieu of bagging them.
  • Partnering with various local farmers in New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, making the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company family of supermarkets the agricultural community’s largest customer and retailer of locally grown produce in the Northeast.
