Building on our commitment to a cleaner, greener earth.
  • Lowering lighting levels in our stores to significant decreases in energy consumption, which has resulted in lessening our imprint equivalent to the removal of 1,058 cars off the road. This practice helps save energy at peak seasonal times, when communities need it most and helps reduce the risk of rolling black outs.
  • Placing high efficiency fluorescent lighting throughout the majority of our store locations and using white TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) roofing for our replacement roofs and new store locations.
  • Three of our Pathmark stores (Elmora, Garwood & Lawnside; all in NJ) have 300kw Solar Power systems which provide approximately one third of their total electric requirement and reduce demand on the local electrical grid.
  • Two co-generation stores (Waldbaum’s  in Hauppauge, Long Island and A&P in Mt. Kisco, NY) feature rooftop combined heat and power, micro-turbine generating systems that provide energy savings to the store and reduce demand on the local electrical grid.
  • All replacement roofs and new store locations have white TPO (Thermoplastic polyolefin) roofing which absorbs less heat allowing our air conditioner load to be reduced.
