The Tengelmann Group
The Tengelmann Group is one of the world's largest retail organizations, with annual sales of more than € 26 billion. The Company operates approximately 7,200 retail stores in 15 countries in Europe and North America, and employs a workforce of 184,000.
Tengelmann's international divisions include the food discounter Plus (based in Mülheim an der Ruhr), the North American supermarket chain A & P (Montvale, N.J., USA), the OBI do-it-yourself stores (Wermelskirchen, Germany) and the textiles and nonfood discounter KiK (Bönen, Germany). The domestic divisions include Kaiser's and Tengelmann supermarkets (Viersen, Germany), and drugstores (Hamm). The Group also operates the Interfruct cash & carry stores in Hungary and Slovakia as well as a number of smaller production units and service providers.
The Tengelmann Group headquarters is in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany, where the business was founded in 1867. The Company is directed by Karl-Erivan W. Haub (CEO, Europe) and Christian W. E. Haub (CEO, A & P North America).
